Connecting conservation and community wellbeing

The Maasai Mara is globally recognised for its wildlife and landscapes, but the long-term wellbeing of the ecosystem is closely connected to the wellbeing of the people who live alongside it.

Basecamp Foundation Kenya promotes an approach in which responsible tourism and partnership help strengthen education, women’s empowerment, health, water and sanitation, and sustainable livelihoods.

Visitors, partners and supporters can therefore contribute to impact that reaches beyond the safari experience—supporting communities while reinforcing the local stewardship on which conservation depends.
